Charlotte County Fire & EMS improved its ISO Public Protection Classification from 4/4X to 3/3X. Announced October 7, the rating recognizes continued work to strengthen fire protection, invest in firefighter training and enhance emergency response capabilities. This achievement can also have a positive impact on Charlotte County commercial real estate by making the area more attractive to businesses and investors. [1]

This is a meaningful achievement for our community. Strong fire protection helps safeguard people, property and the businesses that support Charlotte County’s economy. It also gives companies considering Charlotte County commercial real estate a positive indicator of local fire-protection capabilities.

There may be a business-cost benefit, too. Verisk explains that property insurers use Public Protection Classification information when calculating premiums. The County says the improved rating may result in lower insurance premiums for some businesses, depending on the property, insurer and coverage. [1][2]

Charlotte County Fire & EMS continues to invest in training, response and public protection. That strengthens the business-location story and may bring added insurance benefits for some property owners.
