Punta Gorda Airport expansion

Punta Gorda Airport has reached another milestone in the expansion of its Bailey Terminal, with Departure Gates 7 through 12 now open and welcoming passengers.

The new gate area is part of the airport’s ongoing terminal expansion, a project designed to create more space and improve the passenger experience as PGD continues to grow. Improvements include additional seating and charging areas, larger restrooms, family-friendly amenities, more natural light and aircraft positioned closer to the departure gates for easier boarding.

For Charlotte County, the milestone is about more than a terminal upgrade. Transportation infrastructure and connectivity are important pieces of a community’s ability to support businesses, attract talent and connect employers and residents with markets beyond Southwest Florida.

Punta Gorda Airport x, an 18.5% increase from the previous record set in 2024. The airport currently provides commercial service to more than 50 nonstop destinations through Allegiant, along with seasonal service from Sun Country.

Construction on the Bailey Terminal expansion is continuing. Additional improvements include expanded and redesigned TSA screening checkpoints, additional food and beverage options, and new concession concepts including Wolfgang Puck Kitchen + Bar. The terminal expansion is expected to be completed in 2027.

As investment continues at PGD, the airport remains an important component of Charlotte County’s transportation network, providing commercial service and general aviation access that supports the region’s continued growth.

For businesses considering Charlotte County, airport connectivity is one more piece of the infrastructure that helps keep Southwest Florida connected.
