PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.  (November 14, 2024) – HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital announced it has achieved numerous accolades for clinical excellence from Healthgrades. The hospital’s distinctions include one of Healthgrades 100 best hospitals for orthopedic surgery, spine surgery and gastrointestinal surgery. The hospital earned a Healthgrades 50 Best Hospital for Surgical Care putting the hospital in the top 1% in the nation for clinical excellence in surgical care. Additional distinctions included being rated five stars for treatment of hip fractures, pacemaker procedures and total knee replacement.

“We are proud to again be nationally recognized for the quality care provided to our communities,” said Michael Ehrat, chief executive officer at Fawcett Hospital. “These recognitions reflect the continued dedication of our specialty-trained physicians, and colleagues, in providing safe, high-quality care with optimal outcomes for our patients.”

“This national recognition demonstrates our commitment to excellence in the operating room and in the care we provide to the patients in our communities,” said Gregory Gebauer, MD, orthopedic surgeon at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital.

The achievements are based on patient outcomes. As part of the 2025 hospital assessment, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 of the most common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to determine the top performers.
