Economic Development: Community Involvement at Blue Gavel
October 12th, 2026

Blue Gavel is part of the International Order of the Blue Gavel, an organization of past commodores from qualified yacht clubs. The Isles Yacht Club chapter meets for monthly luncheons and takes part in club ceremonies that help preserve yacht-club traditions.
On Oct. 7, Kay Tracy joined the Isles Yacht Club chapter as a guest speaker. Her invitation recognized that her work reaches beyond traditional economic development and connects with workforce development, education, aviation, veteran support, nonprofit partnerships and community engagement.
Economic Development Depends on Community Involvement
For us, community involvement matters because local opportunities and needs cross sectors. Employers, educators, nonprofits, veterans and civic organizations bring different experience and connections. When they take part in community conversations, they can help build relationships and identify ways to work together.
Economic Development Reaches Across Community Sectors
Blue Gavel’s membership brings together people who have served as yacht-club commodores. The organization supports social, educational and humanitarian programs, alongside efforts to preserve yachting customs and traditions.
Kay’s invitation to speak offered a chance to connect that civic experience with the many areas shaping Charlotte County. Community engagement helps keep economic development connected to the people and organizations who contribute to the county’s future.
