Growing a Workforce That Grows with You
Charlotte County’s economic strength is rooted in its people, and we are investing in education and workforce connections that align with industry needs. Employers do not simply benefit from the talent pipeline. They can help shape it.
Charlotte Technical College (CTC) prepares students for technical careers through hands-on, certification-focused programs. Its Aviation Airframe and Powerplant Program, developed with support from Punta Gorda Airport, is one example of education responding to an identified industry need.
Florida SouthWestern State College’s Career Connection Center helps employers post jobs and internships and connect with students. FSW also offers corporate and community education for professional and workforce development.
Florida Gulf Coast University’s Eagle Career Network allows employers to promote jobs and internships to FGCU students and alumni. Southern Technical College also works with employers through internships, externships, career fairs, recruiting, and industry advisory boards.
CareerSource Southwest Florida Business Services provides no-cost recruitment, candidate screening, hiring events, labor market support, and training grant assistance. Eligibility, funding, and reimbursement requirements vary by program.
FutureMakers Coalition and Tradesman’s Place support workforce pathways that include career navigation, work-based learning, and skilled-trades connections.
Recruit and Train Military-Connected Talent
Veterans Florida gives employers additional ways to connect with veterans, servicemembers, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and military and veteran spouses.
Employers can explore career placement support and SkillBridge, which connects eligible active-duty servicemembers with civilian work-based learning during their final months of service, subject to military approval and program requirements.
Florida law also establishes a Veterans Florida workforce training grant for qualified target-industry and secondary-industry businesses. Approved employers may be reimbursed for 50% of eligible training costs, up to $8,000 per trainee, after paying the full cost. Eligibility, approval, eligible expenses, available funding, and other program requirements apply.
