From an early age, Wendy felt drawn to the beauty industry. Hair, makeup, and nails always held her interest, but what stayed with her most was the feeling she had after leaving a hair appointment. That sense of confidence and renewal stayed with her long after she walked out the door. The honor recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and commitment within technical programs. That early recognition strengthened her confidence and reinforced her commitment to building a career locally.

After graduation, salon owner Sonya Hawker continued that guidance by hiring Wendy fresh out of school and taking her under her wing, offering hands-on mentorship that extended beyond technical skills. Building Dream Salon & Spa in Punta Gorda
