Aviation Training From Classroom to Career
In March 2026, Charlotte County Public Schools and Charlotte Technical College opened a new Aviation Training Facility near Punta Gorda Airport. According to CCPS, the facility was designed to prepare students for high-demand aviation careers and expand career pathways across the region.
CCPS said that the program is designed to train up to 100 students in aircraft maintenance and aviation technical careers.
Charlotte High School adds another step to that pipeline with its aviation program and on-campus training hangar. Together, the programs allow students to begin exploring aviation in high school and continue into advanced technical training.

The center is expected to support hands-on training in advanced manufacturing, CNC, welding, aerospace and related technical fields.
That training connects directly to the skills manufacturers and technical employers consider when evaluating a location.
