Charlotte County business environment grows through connection

Some of the best business advice doesn’t come from a textbook. It comes from someone who has been there.

We’ve seen that firsthand at business mixers and community events throughout Charlotte County. Put entrepreneurs, experienced business leaders and community partners in the same room, and conversations quickly turn into ideas, introductions and opportunities.

Those connections are part of what makes the Charlotte County business environment stronger.

Now, SCORE Port Charlotte is looking for experienced business professionals who are ready to share what they have learned with the next generation of entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Good business advice is worth sharing

SCORE Port Charlotte is seeking volunteer business mentors with experience in areas such as marketing, sales, finance, management, operations and business planning.

And no, you don’t have to know everything.

SCORE says successful mentors need solid business fundamentals, good communication skills and, most importantly, a genuine desire to help others succeed. SCORE also provides mentors with resources, training and support from fellow volunteers.

That means years spent solving problems, leading employees, managing customers, building sales or simply learning what not to do can become incredibly useful to someone building a business today.

How SCORE mentors strengthen the Charlotte County business environment

Mentoring creates another layer of connection within our local business community.

Entrepreneurs gain access to people who understand the realities of running a business. Meanwhile, experienced professionals get an opportunity to stay engaged, meet new people, discover different industries and continue learning themselves.

That exchange of knowledge helps build relationships that extend well beyond a single meeting.

And really, isn’t that what a strong business community should do?

Put your experience to work

If you have business experience and enjoy helping others, SCORE Port Charlotte would like to hear from you.
