Florida Is Competing Where Charlotte County Is Building

A statewide signal with local relevance
Florida continues to compete for business investment across the factors that shape location decisions. In Business Facilities’ 2026 State Rankings, Florida placed No. 2 for Best Business Climate. The publication pointed to population and business growth, infrastructure investment, access to expanding markets and a favorable operating environment.
That is a statewide result, not a Charlotte County ranking. Still, it matters locally. Companies rarely evaluate a community in isolation. They begin with the state and regional operating environment, then narrow the search to locations that can support a specific facility, workforce and timeline.
Florida ranks across growth and investment measures
The broader rankings show why Florida continues to earn attention. The state ranked No. 5 for Overall Tax Climate, No. 4 for Fastest-Growing Population, No. 6 among Export Leaders Overall and No. 4 for FDI Projects.
Together, those measures point to a large, growing market with national and international connections. For companies, that can support customer access, workforce recruitment, supplier relationships and long-term expansion planning.
Aviation, technology and manufacturing stand out
Florida also placed across several industry categories that align with Charlotte County’s target sectors. The state ranked No. 3 for Aerospace Defense Jobs, No. 10 for Civil and Commercial Aircraft Jobs and No. 2 for Space Industry Hubs.
Technology and production capabilities also registered. Florida ranked No. 3 for Cybersecurity Talent, No. 5 for AI Jobs, No. 6 for AI Growth Hubs, No. 9 for Digital Infrastructure and No. 5 for Semiconductor Jobs.
The marine economy added another strong signal. Florida ranked No. 6 for Ship and Boat Building, No. 5 for its Marine Transportation Ecosystem and No. 3 for Outdoor Recreation Manufacturing.
