Charlotte County Industrial Development Gains Momentum

Charlotte County industrial development is gaining regional attention as businesses look at our location, available land, infrastructure and workforce pipeline.
In its August 2026 feature, “Charlotte at a Crossroads,” Gulfshore Business examined Charlotte County’s growth. The article also explored the opportunities that growth is creating for businesses and workers.

As Gulfshore Business reported, we are working to attract manufacturing, warehousing, flex-use and industrial businesses. These businesses can strengthen Charlotte County’s employment base and create meaningful career opportunities for residents.
Charlotte County Economic Development Director Kay Tracy told the publication that our goal goes beyond simply adding population.
“From a workforce perspective, this growth aligns directly with our Careers on the Coast initiative, especially our From Classroom to Career education series, which is helping prepare local students for careers in aviation, logistics and skilled trades. The goal is not just to grow but to grow in a way that creates meaningful career opportunities for our residents.”
That distinction matters. Growth creates demand, but economic development helps turn that demand into business investment, jobs and a stronger local economy.
Strategic Industrial Sites Near I-75
The Gulfshore Business feature also highlighted the concentration of industrial-zoned land near Punta Gorda Airport and the Jones Loop Road corridor.
This area gives companies access to Interstate 75, commercial service and general aviation access at Punta Gorda Airport, and sites positioned for future industrial and commercial development.
Tracy told Gulfshore Business that the corridor can support a mix of manufacturing, logistics, aviation-related and other commercial uses.
Building the Workforce Alongside Business Growth
Our work also includes preparing the workforce that growing and relocating companies need.
The article highlighted initiatives including Careers on the Coast and From Classroom to Career, which connect students with local industries and career opportunities in fields such as aviation, logistics and the skilled trades.
