Why Your Small Business Search Profile Matters
In contracting, sometimes the small details can make a meaningful difference.
During a recent Mark on the Move visit, our Business Retention and Expansion Manager, Mark Odell, worked with Mike Sylvester at JJB South to strengthen the company’s profile in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Search database.
Formerly known as Dynamic Small Business Search, Small Business Search, or SBS, helps contracting professionals identify small businesses with the capabilities they need.
More Than Federal Visibility
Federal contracting officials use Small Business Search as part of their market research, making an accurate and complete profile an important tool for companies pursuing government opportunities.
But its usefulness does not stop with federal agencies.
State and local governments, institutional organizations and private-sector companies can also use the database to research businesses. Companies may search SBS when identifying potential vendors, subcontractors or teaming partners.
That gives businesses even more reason to make sure their profiles accurately reflect what they do.
Industry capabilities, keywords, NAICS codes, certifications and other company information can all help someone searching the database better understand whether a business may be a fit for an opportunity.
For JJB South, the work was focused on sharpening how the company presents itself to organizations already looking for businesses with specific capabilities.
