CHAIRMAN RUBIO, SENATOR COLLINS UNVEIL SWEEPING SMALL BUSINESS EMERGENCY ECONOMIC RELIEF PLAN
Washington, D.C. — At approximately 3:00 pm EDT today (3/18/2020) in the Senate Radio/TV Gallery, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee and the Health Committee, will hold a press conference to unveil the Restoring Economic Security, Confidence and User Endurance (RESCUE) Businesses Act of 2020, a $300 billion small business emergency economic relief plan that will help small businesses impacted by the coronavirus pandemic make payroll and cover expenses.
The press conference will be live streamed on the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship’s Twitter account here.
Following the press conference, Tony Wilkinson, President and CEO of the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL), and Todd McCracken, President of the National Small Business Association (NSBA), will take questions from the media outside the Senate Radio/TV Gallery (S-325).

Through the Charlotte Community Foundation’s Hands Up Grant (HUG), we will be providing assistance to those affected by job or income loss. Thanks to the generosity of the Founder of the Hands Up Grant, Cheryl Berlon, who has donated $25,000 in a match-up opportunity, we will be able to help our neighbors in need with emergency funds. The Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce will host a blood drive on Monday, April 13th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., outside of the Port Charlotte office, 2702 Tamiami Trail.

Fishermen’s Village – UPDATE: Effective today, Village shops/boutiques will operate 10 am-6 pm Mon-Sat and 12 noon-6 pm on Sunday. Restaurants typically stay open later. Our dedicated staff has been diligently cleaning and sanitizing each day. Fishermen’s Village is the perfect outdoor environment to enjoy fresh air and sunshine as you shop and dine! The Village is comprised of all independently owned and operated small businesses who greatly appreciate your ongoing patronage and support. We will all get through this together!
Sandstar Remodeling and Interiors – Due to safety and health concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus outbreak, we have decided to err on the side of caution and cancel our upcoming seminar, “Art, Accessories & Lighting,” which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 24th.
