Charlotte County business expansion

Charlotte County business expansionCharlotte County business expansion doesn’t always mean a new company moving in. Sometimes it means a longtime employer investing again in the place it already calls home. HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital is doing just that with a planned $16 million expansion and modernization of its emergency department in Port Charlotte.

HCA Florida announced the project in late October. First, the plan adds nine exam rooms at the 21298 Olean Boulevard campus, bringing the department to 29. It also creates six fast track spaces, so simpler cases can move through more quickly.

In addition, a dedicated CT scanner will sit inside the department. That means faster imaging when minutes matter. Other upgrades include a new nursing station and support areas, a larger waiting area and lobby, a new entrance canopy, and renovations to existing space.

“This investment reflects our commitment to ensuring our community has access to the high-quality emergency care it needs, both today and for generations to come,” said Philip Marchesini, CEO of HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, in remarks reported by the Charlotte Sun.

A steady pattern of reinvestment

Fawcett has served Charlotte County since 1975. Its emergency department project follows a $60 million expansion and renovation, whose first phase opened in May 2024. That phase added 12 critical care rooms and expanded pre-operative treatment areas to 43 bays.

Altogether, these investments add capacity that employers and their teams rely on. After all, a nearby, well-equipped emergency department matters to every business with people on the job.

Emergency Services Medical Director Dr. Scott Howard summed it up: “As our community grows, so does the demand for timely, accessible emergency care.”
