Free Digital Skills Training for Charlotte County Employers

If your employees could use a refresher in computer skills or an introduction to AI, Goodwill Southwest Florida offers free digital skills training. Its Port Charlotte Community Resource Center gives local businesses a place to connect their teams with that support.

Now, a $20,000 grant from Comcast will help Goodwill expand training through its regional network of Community Resource Centers and mobile unit. The funding supports the 2026-2027 grant period, with digital skills training free and open to the public.

DIGITAL SKILLS EMPLOYEES CAN USE

Goodwill’s training covers computer basics, internet and email use, and online safety. In addition, its regional offerings include Google AI Essentials and AI Prompting Essentials, which introduce practical uses of generative AI. Google AI Essentials is available as an online course through Goodwill.

For employers, this is a resource for staff who want to become more comfortable with everyday technology or explore new digital tools. Because the training is free, businesses can support employee development without adding course fees.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR TEAM

Local employers can refer employees for training and assistance. Participants first complete a short registration form at the center. Staff then assess their interests and needs before training begins.

To get started, contact Goodwill’s Port Charlotte Community Resource Center at 24123 Peachland Boulevard. Call 941-255-3884 for current course availability and scheduling. You can also find program information on Goodwill’s website:
