Florida International Air Show 2026: A Tradition That Keeps Flying
October 13th, 2026

The Florida International Air Show takes place Nov. 7–8 at Punta Gorda Airport, and gates open at 9 a.m. both days. After three years of setbacks outside their control, organizers have built a lineup of civilian jets, aerobatic pilots and parachute teams, plus a full slate of ground attractions for families and aviation fans.
Overcoming Setbacks, Year After Year
Few local events have been tested like this one. The 2024 show, which would have been the 43rd, was canceled after Hurricanes Milton and Helene, with community recovery and public safety driving the decision. In 2025, the federal government shutdown grounded the Blue Angels, the F-16 Viper Demo Team and the Heritage Flight Team just before the show. This year, the U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team withdrew due to a military decision.
Each time, the board adjusted and kept the show on schedule. Air show president Denise Dull said the board is pivoting quickly and remains committed to a full lineup and an unforgettable experience for Southwest Florida families.
The 2026 Lineup: Jets, Aerobatics and Parachutes
The headliners this year come from aviation history. New additions include the MiG-17 subsonic fighter jet, first introduced in 1952, and the TA-4J Skyhawk jet trainer, introduced in 1969.
Joining them in the sky:
- Kevin Coleman, a Red Bull Air Race pilot
- Aarron Deliu, an Australian-based aerobatic champion
- Franklin’s Flying Circus, which has entertained air show crowds for more than 55 years
- The Chuters Jump Team, a veteran-owned and operated parachute team
Aircraft and performers are subject to change without notice, and organizers will share updates if anything changes.
STEM and Family Activities on the Ground
The experience goes well beyond the flightline. The STEM Pavilion gives students, educators and aviation fans a chance to try virtual reality goggles, watch drones in action and see robots used in agriculture, with demonstrations running 9 a.m. to noon both days. Visitors can also explore static displays of historic warbirds, modern military jets and civilian aircraft, along with the Family Aviation Experience’s hands-on activities for all ages.
Local kids have an extra reason to attend. A community reading initiative lets local children earn free admission to the 2026 show.
What the Air Show Means for Charlotte County
The Florida International Air Show is one of the largest single draws to Punta Gorda Airport each year. The 2023 show set a record with nearly 45,000 attendees. That kind of turnout brings visitors to local hotels, restaurants and shops, and it puts PGD in front of thousands of people who may not otherwise see it.
The STEM focus matters too. Hands-on exposure to aviation, drones and robotics helps young residents picture careers in aerospace, advanced manufacturing and technology, which are the kinds of fields Charlotte County is working to grow.
The event itself is a community effort. The Florida International Air Show is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit staffed entirely by volunteers, supported by sponsors and local partners.
